Meet Host Jeff Mudd

An Experienced Voice for The Trades Podcast

With over three decades of experience in the home improvement industry, podcast host Jeff Mudd is no stranger to the skilled trades. He is dedicated to providing opportunities and information to help young people learn new skills and find rewarding careers in the trades.

Jeff Mudd’s Skilled Trades Journey

Jeff Mudd is currently the president of two home improvement companies: Best-Rate Repair and Wild Wild Pest Control. His early career involved working for two termite companies as a field tech, advancing to become a successful termite inspector. Turning 40 a few days after 9/11/2001 made Jeff reevaluate his priorities, leading to his decision to start his own company. As a business owner, old-fashioned customer service has been the golden rule and the key to repeat business. As a leader, his greatest enjoyment at work is helping his team members succeed.

Jeff demonstrates his leadership beyond his work running his two companies. He has been the San Diego District Direct of the Pest Control Operators of California (PCOC) from 2020 to the present. He has served as a panelist at the North San Diego Business Chamber’s Business Summit. Additionally, his certification as a Master Deck Builder by the North American Deck & Railing Association has allowed him to provide deck safety presentations to the California Real Estate Inspector Association.

One of the things that Jeff prizes about a skilled trades career is the ability to enjoy family time and other pursuits. Jeff is a San Diego native who is married with two boys. His favorite pastimes are learning to sail, racquetball, and camping.
